Redirect chain is too long
Several redirects slow the first visit and create more failure points.
What is a redirect chain?
A redirect chain occurs when one URL redirects to another which redirects again before reaching the final page. Every hop adds latency and another point where configuration can fail.
What to do next
- Map each hop in the chain.
- Update rules and internal links to target the final canonical HTTPS URL.
- Keep only redirects required for old addresses.
How to verify the fix
Clear caches and confirm the starting URL reaches its destination in one or two hops.
When this result may be wrong
A/B testing, geolocation and consent systems can intentionally add conditional redirects.
